According to legend, a Christian slave named Steinhauer founded a monastery here and a neutral republic grew up around it. Frasassi: Here you will find one of the largest caves in Italy. It was accidentally discovered in 1971 and has been open to visitors since 1974. The cave has a constant temperature of 14 C°.
