Food & Wine
The Southern Piedmont is dotted with numerous small villages with castles, churches or convents that can be seen from afar. A number of stately homes open their doors and gardens during the summer months.
Mango has a beautiful castle. Inside you will find a restaurant and the Enoteca Regionale for wine tasting.
The villages of Barolo and Barbaresco - famous worldwide for their wines - are within a short driving distance. Not surprisingly in an area famous for its wines, good food is just as important and a stone throw away. ‘Foodies’ will find themselves in heaven; The Slow Food movement did not originate for nothing in this part of the Piedmont.
You will find numerous Michelin star, and family run restaurants to pizzerias within a fifteen minute drive.
Different wine and food festivities are organised from Easter until early December.
During the summer months the villages organise their own smaller fete. Not a week passes without one being held somewhere.
Walking, cycling, riding and far more
The bureau of tourism has set out a number of local tours that can be done on foot, by (mountain) bike or on horse back, which will take you through beautiful countryside. Other outdoor activities from rafting to paragliding are also available.
Golf
A total of seven 18 hole golf courses and a number of challenging 9 hole golf courses, within a radius of 50 km, should be able to satisfy the average golfer.
Art, music and theatre
Particularly during the summer months cultural events are held all over Southern Piedmont.
Day trips
Turin - Milan - Genoa
With the new motorway Alba - Asti completed, which connects to the A 21, a day trip to Turin, Milan or Genoa has been made even easier. Whilst Milan and Genoa are better known, we have not met anybody who was not more than pleasantly surprised by Turin (one hour to the centre of town).
Tip: Visit one of the Italian gardens or old stately homes en route.
Alba - Asti - Aqui Terme and many more
Three totally different provincial towns, dating back to different eras are worth visiting for their architecture. Shopping here is also very good, though on a smaller scale than in the above mentioned cities. All famous Italian brands - some even have their own shops - can be found in these towns. The large Saturday market in Alba - famous for its white truffle - is also worth a visit. The smaller town of Neive has been promoted to “one of the hundred most beautiful villages of Italy”
Beach
A day at the seaside in the charming old town of Noli, (about one hour’s drive) will let you experience how unspoilt the Mediterranean still can be.
Tip: Combine your day at the beach with a visit to Savona (10 minutes from Noli)
In the Cascina you will find an updated list of events.

Description:
The former loft and garages have been turned into living space. The furniture in the house echoes this mix of old and new. Moreover you will find ample space and comfort, a necessity when sharing a house with twelve people.
The farmhouse contains in total six large bedrooms, all with two single or a double bed, and four bathrooms containing spacious showers (one with a large bath) of modern Italian design.
Furthermore there is a loft style living room of some 45 m² with adjacent a large terrace overlooking the vineyards towards the Alps. The entrance hall leads to a large kitchen equipped to a high standard, and a separate study. The house has its own telephone and internet connection, whilst an international satellite provides international radio and television. Outside, you will find a separate laundry and utility room.
Swimming pool
The farmhouse and its swimming pool are situated on a hill overlooking vineyards and wooded hills with stunning views towards the Alps and the more rugged scenery of the Alte Langhe. The position of the house and swimming pool allows you to enjoy the sun from early morning to late in the evening. Old fruit and nut trees, as well as a number of covered areas, provide ample shelter from sun and wind. The swimming pool is fifteen metres long and a large garden surrounding it has been fenced in for safety reasons. This area naturally runs over into a wild flower meadow.
A large grass area completes this part of the property that in total comprises some 5000 m².
Walking distance
One can reach our village on foot via a path that runs along the back of the property. San Donato boasts a church, a tabacchi (a small supermarket that also sells fresh bread) and a restaurant cum bar.
Cascina 47 is situated a short distance from San Donato (Mango) in the southern Piedmont. The high vantage point (±600m) of this small village guarantees a beautiful panorama with the Alps forming a spectacular backdrop to the rolling hills of the Langhe and Roero.
The area is still relatively unknown outside of Italy. Here you can still enjoy the countryside as it has been for centuries, cherished and respected by its population. Many famous Italian wines such as the Barolo and Barbaresco are produced in this area. Not only lovers of good food & wine will enjoy this area, within a range of 50 km there are seven 18 hole and a number of 9 hole golf courses. Nature lovers can hike along the many officially designated footpaths and enjoy the abundant wildlife.
